Aaron Austin- Howes Level 2 Scaffolding apprentice at NCC
At CITB National Construction College (NCC), we’re committed to developing the next generation of skilled professionals. Hear from Aaron Austin- Howes currently a Level 2 Scaffolding apprentice at CITB National Construction College.
Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?
I wanted to have a qualification behind myself and learn a skilled trade which would set me up for life.
What are the best parts of learning at NCC?
I enjoy the variety of different scaffolds and learning how to fix. I also enjoy figuring out what tools are needed for each part of the job and what the best practices are. Problem solving is a big part of Scaffolding and it can often be quite complicated so its really interesting.
What are the toughest challenges you have faced while you are completing your apprenticeship?
I sometimes find reading the drawings difficult and making sure I am doing the scaffolding the correct way. The instructors are great at NCC as you can always ask questions and work through difficulties.
How supportive have your tutors been during your apprenticeship?
Brilliant, they have helped me loads and I would recommend the college to everyone.
What are your career goals once you complete your apprenticeship?
I hope in the future to travel abroad and take my Scaffolding qualifications/ skills with me.
Are you looking for apprenticeship training? NCC can help with Scaffolding training available at all three of their colleges based in Bircham (Norfolk), Erith (Kent) and Inchinnan (Scotland).
