This week marks Scottish Apprenticeship Week, and the CITB is calling for Scottish construction companies to accelerate the number of apprenticeship starts by claiming CITB apprenticeship grants.

This National Apprenticeship Week (10 – 16 February 2025), the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) reveals it has supported over 24,000 learners and nearly 9,000 employers with apprenticeship grants between April to December 2024.

Following on from an engaging CITB Skills & Training Conference in Cardiff, we head to London to meet even more employers, training providers and industry stakeholders. The one-day event on February 6 will see employers benefiting from one-to-one support on accessing CITB funding and services, including the Employer Network initiative. Training providers, meanwhile, will have the opportunity to hear about the industry’s major opportunities and meet construction companies and industry trade federations.

The Department for Education today published the Government’s response to the ITB Review, which was conducted by Mark Farmer in 2023 and finalised last year. Indeed, it states that the role of the ITBs should be strengthened and calls on them to do more.

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has announced a one-year extension of funding to support the Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) in transitioning all Industry Accreditation (IA) cardholders to recognised qualifications. All IA cards issued from 1 January 2020 will expire on 31 December 2024 and cannot be replaced using IA.
