The CITB Wales Engagement Team delivered four Women in Construction taster events across Wales in July - engaging with 265 pupils from years 8-10, from 20 schools across Wales.

The Top 100 Most Influential Women in Construction Awards showcase the incredible women and allies who are driving real change in the construction industry. The awards shine a light on their achievements, while demonstrating that the sector is diverse, inclusive and open to everyone. Today we celebrate Lade Ogunlaja, a construction project consultant with a passion for sustainability and inclusivity. Lade has been nominated for the Allies award, which recognises the key influencers who support inclusion and change.

The launch of this year’s Business Plan is a significant step forward in our longer-term ambition to transform the skills landscape.

Today, CITB unveiled its Business Plan for 2024-25. The new direction sets out to build on previous plans and shows how they will support and empower employers by investing £267m over the coming year.

The winners of the SkillBuild National Final 2023 have been announced, after 78 construction trainees went head-to-head over three days.

CITB has announced support for a Homebuilding Sector Skills Plan (PDF, 452kb) which represents a new way of working with the sector to improve skills, training and recruitment.  The plan has been created in partnership with homebuilding sector stakeholders and aims to increase the availability of skilled workers, to help meet the needs of the homebuilding pipeline. 

A new free eCourse has been developed in partnership with Build UK and fire industry experts, with the aim of improving the sector’s knowledge of fire safety measures in buildings. Following the Grenfell Tower tragedy in 2017 and subsequent inquiry, the industry has worked hard to increase safety standards and prevent such an incident from happening again.
