CITB strengthens commitment to ensuring that the Levy system operates fairly

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has announced today its strengthened position on ‘passing on the Levy’. The move reflects the CITB, Levy Strategy Committee, three Nation Councils and the 14 Prescribed Organisations’ ongoing commitment to ensuring that the Levy system operates fairly and equitably across the construction industry.

At CITB, we’re committed to supporting the construction industry and ensuring fair practices across the sector. The Board has recently issued an updated statement regarding the practice of ‘passing on the Levy’. This refers to when some construction companies or principal contractors pass the cost of the CITB Levy down to their subcontractors. Here’s what you need to know.

CITB announces Consensus consultation for 2026-29 Levy

Consensus is a process that CITB usually undertakes every three years to ask construction employers for their views on its plans for generating Levy and the skills and training this will deliver to the industry. CITB’s core focus for the proposals being shared in September is to ensure that the exemptions and reductions stay current and appropriate.
