This project is the first of its kind, and it will provide home builders with tools to train their staff in Consumer Protection Regulation code.

This includes responsibilities to the home-buyer and their duties in informing the home-buyer about all matters that have a bearing on their purchasing decision. This will be done through both online e-learning and webinars and will enable more staff to be trained more efficiently

This project will produce 5 individual demolition specific sets of guidance notes. These guidance notes will be used by the Federation members and the wider industry to assist in ensuring that the knowledge of existing demolition sector staff including new employees is up to date providing access to clear, concise and current guidance notes, which ensure continued safe working and good practice.

The project will provide new competency based training materials which have been prioritised due to immediate demand from industry. These training materials will be available for electronic use.

These workbooks will be used specifically to support the delivery of the new Scottish Modern Apprenticeship programmes in Timber Frame Manufacture and Design, and to increase the skills, capability and capacity of the timber frame manufacturing using modern methods of construction.

After the project, the workbooks will be available to download from the Structural Timber Association website for industry to access and use.

The project will build expertise in senior management through the IEMA Accredited Environmental Awareness course and use this expertise to develop and deploy be-spoke short-duration courses.

The training will adopt a modular structure to target particular specialisms.  Developing modules rather than block courses allows the company to efficiently target specific job roles and remove non-essential content not relevant to the audience.

After the project the environmental awareness course will be developed and freely available upon request.  10 employers will have received the benefit of the training.

Small employers often lack the skills to deliver corporate social responsibility, and so can miss the benefits to themselves and the community, including winning new contracts.

The project will develop and deliver an online diagnostic tool that identifies an organisation’s maturity in terms of corporate social responsibility.

This will help to develop participating employers’ skills and capacity in this area.

The project will provide training focused on heritage construction. Thirty individuals currently following NVQ2 and 3 will benefit from this training. A third of buildings in Wales were built before 1919 and are different in both the materials used and the structure as compared to modern buildings. Existing NVQ courses provide no training on make and model of old buildings. Yet it is likely that learners will be required to work on old buildings during their career. This training will ensure the preservation of heritage.

This project addresses the issues of supply and demand in multi-skilled training by:

• Increasing the quality of provision and capacity to train
• Raising awareness of the potential of multi-skilling to tackle strategic industry priorities
• Deliver quantifiable business and employee benefits.

The project will develop training essential to the upskilling of flood industry professionals in the area of Property Level Protection (PLP) The training will support employers working in Flood Protection. The project will pilot newly developed training materials and look to introduce an examination process leading to a certificated qualification.

This project was commissioned to provide empirical evidence of the scale of the skills gap and skills shortage in the profession of the Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW).

The availability of ECoW has not historically been measured nor their competence assessed. As a result, there is concern that skills gaps and potential skills shortages in this area could exist.

The project responds to a need to conduct research into the Plant sector to better understand the number of plant operators, and the degree of entry to – exit from the labour force.

The project will use this research to gain better data which can be used for planning and implementing recruitment and upskilling programmes in both general and specialist areas.
