This project will create 3 x fully interactive learning tools to address errors and defects in the following key areas; 

• Timber staircase installation
• Timber fire door assembly and door set installation
• Timber window installation.

The project will pilot the learning with BWF members and then be made widely available across industry.

The project will support colleges delivering the Apprenticeship requirement for 20% off-site learning for Form Working, Steel Fixing and Concrete Pouring focusing on the nuclear sector.  It will use augmented reality (AR) to enhance the acquisition of skills and competencies that are then reinforced on site using a collaborative virtual reality (VR) classroom that each apprentice can access remotely.

This will minimise time off-site through a virtual learning environment, increase engagement through technology native to the target group, and enhance knowledge retention and achievement.

Apprentices will use state of the art immersive learning headwear in college to enhance real-world learning.  They will then be given a low-cost mobile VR headset that they will take to site that will be worn off-site at scheduled times to refresh skills in a collaborative virtual environment shared with other apprentices and the college lecturer.

After the project, Bridgwater & Taunton College will have shown how immersive learning can be used to improve the acquisition and retention of knowledge. They will have stablished a way to deliver collaborative learning through this technology and will have developed materials for others to take the same approach.

The project will identify and upskill onsite assessors in the small and medium-sized enterprise community. This will support the development of assessment infrastructure for the demolition, plant and plastering industries across Great Britain.

This solution engages companies and the workforce in the finishes and interiors sector, by providing On-site Assessment and Training (OSAT) NVQs and identifying individuals as assessors working in conjunction with our training providers. This will be done by funding for 250 OSAT NVQs and 50 assessor qualifications.

This project is focused on training new assessors in Passive Fire and Finishes and Interiors

This project will allow assessors to train and develop in the areas of lifting operations, construction plant and demolition plant.
King Lifting will lead the project to train industry experts to become Vocational Qualification assessors or quality assurers, as well as CPCS testers. This is to create greater access to training/testing and assessment for the lifting, construction plant and demolition plant sectors.

Simian are committed to extending its current scaffold training delivery, by increasing capacity and the number of courses it offers throughout Great Britain.

This project sits under the commission for Assessor Infrastructure (Passive Fire)

The project has three key threads, addressing directly the school, FE and HE sectors.

In partnership with Microsoft, the first thread targeting primary school teachers will use the Minecraft Virtual construction scenario to stimulate and encourage school-age children to consider careers in the built environment. Strong support from Microsoft will lead to UK-wide Minecraft ‘clubs’ creating a nationwide exposure to STEM and the construction industry in particular.

A second thread will establish two fixed site ‘hub’ facilities enabling practical reinforcement  and integration with students’ learning experience.

A third thread will implement a mobile facility to enable cost-effective engagement over a wider geographical area from each hub. Each mobile unit will provide typically three-day events based in FE/HE institutions.

The project will bring together a cross industry partnership to create and direct a unified National Workforce Development programme. It will establish and promote industry wide standards for all roofing disciplines through an "Accredited Roofer" programme that will act as a skills baseline for the sector and that will professionalise the industry.
