The project will deliver the CITB's Achieving Behavioural Change (ABC) programme. This essential programme:

• covers legal duties of employers and employees
• defines hazards, risks and control measures
• lists possible causes of accidents
• helps employees understand the link between attitude and behaviour, the costs of poor safety performance, the benefits of good safety performance and how to put ABC into practice.

After the end of the project, workers in the Manchester airport Group Estate will have achieved the training and will have the skill-sets to improve safety in the working environment.

The project will develop a network of Centres of Excellence across the UK to support training in Joinery, Shop-fitting and Interior Contracting  using new apprenticeship standards as the bedrock Using this network  to ensure all units can be offered and ensuring curriculums are up to date and standardised by providing ‘bolt-on’ modules.

After the project more wood workers will have the skills to operate CNC machinery, and the capacity for further people to upskill will be increased through the network of centres of excellence.

Funding will be used to set up a new assessment centre where assessors for modular and portable buildings will be trained.

Build the skills capacity of the demolition sector by creating new on-site assessors and delivering vocational qualifications to address the skills shortage.

Build the skills capacity of the brickwork sector by creating new on-site assessors and delivering vocational qualifications to address the skills shortage.

Build the skills capacity of the lead contracting sector by creating new on-site assessors and delivering vocational qualifications to address the skills shortage.

Build the skills capacity of the roofing sector by creating new on-site assessors and delivering vocational qualifications to address the skills shortage.

To increase the number of assessors within specified sectors.

Funding will be used to set up a new assessment centre where assessors for  plant will be trained. 

A key outcome of the project will be to strengthen the assessment infrastructure across GB in relation to plant.

The project will pilot and test a programme of training which will instil the latest technical and practical skills in the ground working sector, an area which is increasingly focussing on environmental and technical concerns. It will develop and deliver a L2 / L3 pilot Master Ground Working training programme that incorporates and expands on core components of Level 2 Programme in Civils Framework & L3 Machinery Maintenance with essential additional courses and qualifications needed for an up to date Ground worker role.
