The project will pilot and test a programme of training which will instil the latest technical and practical skills in the ground working sector, an area which is increasingly focussing on environmental and technical concerns. It will develop and deliver a L2 / L3 pilot Master Ground Working training programme that incorporates and expands on core components of Level 2 Programme in Civils Framework & L3 Machinery Maintenance with essential additional courses and qualifications needed for an up to date Ground worker role.

The project will train in-house NVQ Assessors to assess employees within their own organisation in five key trades. Fineline Carpentry will pilot this approach and seek to encourage other employers to join and repeat this approach. It will initially address these issues for the consortium members. Project summary:

The project will deliver a range of training and development interventions. The aim of this project is to deliver skills to construction firms working on Sherford Town which is being built outside Plymouth. This new town build is putting pressure on traditional house-building occupations in the area.

It requires specific skills due to the specialist building techniques being used on the site. These specialist skills include: English Bond Bricklaying, Traditional roofing Styles, Sash Windows, Dry Lining and Sealant operatives.

After the project, the local workforce will have been skilled to deliver the unique construction methods required to deliver a keystone regional project. Ex-military will have been given a pathway into construction and the opportunity to secure work.
