Project summary:

The project will undertake research by carrying out pilot studies and business mapping, to evaluate the people and business readiness for BIM, resulting in a business case for further investment in people, process innovation, collaborative working, cultural change, training, systems and new design software technology.

At the end of the project a report will contribute to industry's understanding of how to implement BIM by means of building a strong business case for adoption. The benefits of BIM, particularly in housing, will be recorded in a PowerPoint presentation available on request from Stewart Milne.

The project will research and pilot a scheme to increase apprenticeship numbers, and raise the standards in the Shop Fitting sector by developing a framework of excellence and building a network that can deliver flexible training from the framework.

After the project the woodworking sector will have access to new standardised training through a network of training hubs. Access will increase over time as the network of centres of excellence grows. The framework of excellence that standardises training will be available from those hubs.

This project will produce 5 individual demolition specific sets of guidance notes. These guidance notes will be used by the Federation members and the wider industry to assist in ensuring that the knowledge of existing demolition sector staff including new employees is up to date providing access to clear, concise and current guidance notes, which ensure continued safe working and good practice.

Project summary:

The project will provide new competency based training materials which have been prioritised due to immediate demand from industry. These training materials will be available for electronic use.

These workbooks will be used specifically to support the delivery of the new Scottish Modern Apprenticeship programmes in Timber Frame Manufacture and Design, and to increase the skills, capability and capacity of the timber frame manufacturing using modern methods of construction.

After the project, the workbooks will be available to download from the Structural Timber Association website for industry to access and use.

Project summary:

The project will build expertise in senior management through the IEMA Accredited Environmental Awareness course and use this expertise to develop and deploy be-spoke short-duration courses.

The training will adopt a modular structure to target particular specialisms.  Developing modules rather than block courses allows the company to efficiently target specific job roles and remove non-essential content not relevant to the audience.

After the project the environmental awareness course will be developed and freely available upon request.  10 employers will have received the benefit of the training.
