The project is based on Hire Association Europe’s objective to invest in new technologies and make training more readily accessible to a wider audience using innovative solutions including 360 degree video, 3D animation, Virtual and Augmented reality and Oculus Rift. 

Project delivery methods will include online, mobile, tablet and virtual reality.  Topics will cover all of the construction industries key areas.

After the project, the 12 modules will be released through HAE tool hire depots so that VR training inductions can be delivered to customers and logged on a learner management system. The 12 modules and their digital assets will also be published through HAE's 'Project pHAEton' which will create a content creation and learning platform as part of CITB's Immersive Learning commission.

The project will provide training to meet the current skills shortage in plant operation by delivering business skills which will allow micro employers to grow and build capacity for the sector. A programme of training which will be delivered to senior managers and business owners. These skills include: entrepreneurship, business planning, ‘whole life cost’ buying, innovative procurement, risk assessment & control, method statements and compliance.

The project follows successful completion of a Phase 1 CITB funded project, which produced a high quality training resource focusing on working conditions, safety and risk assessment whilst excavating. This is Phase 2, the key objectives of which are to: develop a training film, which will focus on the subject matter of ‘Breaking Ground’, highlighting the dangers of working on the highway, and reviewing the latest H&S legislation. This will serve as a versatile resource that will support blended training.

The project is the third and final stage of a set of three projects which have piloted a series of short videos These videos communicate key information on the topic of safety at work.

The aim of these videos is to influence behaviour and reduce accidents on site to develop a learning resource which is flexible, can be delivered on site with minimal resource, and can be embedded into existing training practices through the Utilities Contractors Training Group membership.

The Right to Work project is aimed at providing construction businesses, and their entire supply chain with accessible training on how to check the ‘right to work’ status of all their employees thereby preventing illegal working and any modern slavery/trafficking activities.

The method for communicating this information will be via video. This video can be hosted on the CITB website or CITB YouTube channels, allowing access to everyone in the industry, large or small.

The project will expand on previous work completed and will produce a series of Timber Frame Competency Award Scheme booklets

The Silver level will initially be completed(bronze and gold to follow).  

At present there is no way of auditing people's involvement. Therefore this project will deliver a self-certification process online.

After the project these documents will be made available on the STA web site for industry to download and use, helping to standardise skills within the structural timber sector.

The project will develop fire safety information in response to calls for additional measures, following industry failures to meet CDM responsibilities in this area.

A video will be developed on fire safety and hosted on the Structural Timber Association (STA) website.

The project will develop a series of broadcast quality training videos explaining heritage plastering techniques for new and existing operators.

The funding will produce four modules covering the basics of heritage and plastering techniques.

The project will upskill operatives with grandfather rights to ensure all those with CSCS cards also achieve associated NVQs by 2020.

It will do this by developing an introductory course and Specialist Upskilling Programme (SUP) and these courses will then be rolled out to the sector.

The project will develop a sector infrastructure that will define how we attract, train and retain a skilled and professional workforce sufficient to build over 1 million new homes in the next 5 years.

By engaging up to 100 homebuilders and targeting specific occupations, and with the support and leadership of the homebuilders. The project will create and develop an industry-responsive infrastructure which will communicate the benefits of smart recruitment, training and retaining to up to 3,500 homebuilders and homebuilding supply chain companies across the UK.
